XCar Hardware Project

Advanced Individual Wheel Drive (IWD) platform
for high-performance autonomous control applications

Xcar Hardware Design

Introduction

The Xcar Hardware project represents a cutting-edge approach to autonomous vehicle platform design, featuring a sophisticated Individual Wheel Drive (IWD) system.

While conventional research platforms typically utilize either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) systems with coupled wheel speeds, our IWD architecture enables independent control of each wheel's speed and torque. This advanced approach offers enhanced maneuverability during aggressive cornering and provides precise torque vectoring capabilities critical for high-performance autonomous control applications.
